10 SMART GRIDS
10 CANVASES CONSTITUTING 1 INSTALLATION

This installation consists of ten 48” x 36” paintings on canvas. Each painting is a grid and each canvas is different from the others. The artist’s intention is that while the viewer moves through the installation what at first seem to be modernist grid abstractions transform into representations of specific modern and post-modern buildings in Chicago. The title of the installation is 10 Smart Grids, and each painting is also individually named for the street address of that specific building.

Given that the intention is to surprise the viewer, this statement is for the curator but not the viewer.

Each painting is 3’ X 5’. 7 are flat canvases and 3 are shaped canvases.
